Source Series 11 mini lego figurines. | Week 5's science lesson was cut short by a timetable change. So we discussed the questions scientists ask. A hypothesis is a scientific guess that scientists make before they start an experiment. We then discussed some important characteristics of scientists.

https://sites.google.com/a/scas.nsw.edu.au/2015-5hr/ Yesterday we did an experiment with a tissue in a glass and water. We looked at how air can be contained and will act as a barrier to water. Thank you to the fantastic 5HR who once again displayed curiosity and awe at all the right times. When you put a glass into water the air will protect the tissue provided you don't tilt the glass. Isaiah and Maxwell love exploring things that explode. I suggested they google the Hindenburg and they created a slide show with what they found. I guess there is a reason why we don't use Hydrogen for air balloons.

Please use this site to access shared files. We also started a word wall using Padlet. During the lesson we used magnifying glasses to examine different solids. There are many different types of solids and we found some have the properties of water. For example you can pour sugar, and coffee however when you look at it with a magnifying glass it is made up of many small pieces of solid material. Some of the items we looked at were:
